To analyze the main reasons of consultation that lead pediatric patients to attend hospital’s pediatric emergency departments. Material and methods. A descriptive, quantitative and single-center study was carried out, for which a data base was created collecting all data obtained from the patient’s medical record along with the Pediatrics Department’s data base. Every patient who visited the pediatric emergency department during 2019 was included in the study. Results. A total of 22888 visits were analyzed. Male visits were 54%. The main group of age attending the department were the infants, gathering 35,53% of the visits. 31,66% of the visits of the year were registered over the winter. The level of priority given most frequently was level IV (47,49% of the visits). The main reason for consultation was fever (23,70%). Discussion. Under-14 patients visit the pediatric emergency department mainly because of fever. The frecuency of the chief complaint changes along with the patient’s age and the season of the year, being the fever the main reason of consultation in under-4 patients, as well as during winter and spring; and GI symptomatology in patients from 5 to 13, as well as during summer and autumn.
