Los factores que modulan las decisiones de las mujeres maltratadas

Resumen

La violencia hacia y contra las mujeres consiste en cualquier tipo de violación de la personalidad de la mujer, de su integridad física y mental o de su libertad de movimientos.
En la actualidad, la violencia de género es considerada como un problema de estado y de salud pública, así como un tema de preocupación social.
Objetivo: Identificar los factores que influyen en la toma de decisiones por parte de las mujeres maltratadas.
Metodología: La población a estudio son las mujeres maltratadas de la Comunidad de Madrid atendidas en los Puntos Municipales del Observatorio Regional contra la Violencia de Género
La información se recogió mediante la realización de grupos de discusión y de entrevistas en profundidad.
Resultados: Son varios los factores que influyen en la toma de decisiones por parte de las mujeres que sufren malos tratos, como la existencia o no de hijos a su cargo, la dependencia económica de la pareja, el tipo de maltrato sufrido, pero de entre estos, hay uno que subyace y que es el más destacable, común y podríamos decir que es el eje central que modula su comportamiento. Este factor es el miedo.
Discusión: Cuando atendemos a estas mujeres, debemos ser conscientes de la situación psicológica en la que se encuentran, ser capaces de identificar si la mujer nos está pidiendo ayuda cuando acude a nosotros, y tratar de identificar y actuar sobre la causa que influye en la toma de decisiones de la mujer a la que atendemos.

Abstract: Violence towards and against women consists in any kind of violation of woman’s personality, her physical integrity or her freedom of movement.
Nowadays, gender-based violence is considered a state and public health problem as well as a social concerning subject.
Objective: To identify the factors that influence on the decisions that battered women make.
Methodology: The study population are battered women who live in Madrid province and who are being attended in the Municipal Points of the Regional Observatory against the Gender Violence.
The information was collected by performing focus groups and deep interviews.
Results: There are several factors which influence on the decisions that battered women make, like the existence or not of children they have to take care of, the economic dependence and the ignorance of the woman, in some cases, of the existence of this ill-treatment, but over all, we could even say beyond all these, there is one that is the most important, common and we could say it is the main axis that determine their behaviour. This factor is fear.
Discussion: When attending these women we may be aware of the psychological situation they are, and we should be able to identify if the woman is asking us for help when she comes to us and try to identify and treat this factor that influences the decisions the woman we attend makes.
